⬇ Go to the texture

The Cobblestone 01 article ended on a promise: a bare, unrusted corrugated sheet. Here it is, almost. Corrugated Metal 01 is galvanised sheet in matt medium grey, with a white-grey oxidation haze and vertical dirt streaks, the kind rain draws down a shed roof over the years. It did not end up entirely rust-free: the screwed cross seam shows the first traces, as on a sheet that has been outside for a while. One tile covers 0.684 × 0.684 m, and the texture is the second in the Metal category.

The waves are computed

Image models like to paint their own corrugation, and it is never even. So here it does not come from the image but from a formula: nine waves per tile to the 76/18 profile, meaning 76 mm from crest to crest and 18 mm deep. The normal and height maps follow from that calculation. The sheet therefore measures like real roofing, and at every tile edge the waves sit exactly where the next tile carries them on.

Four tiles of the texture side by side: galvanised corrugated sheet with vertical dirt streaks and a screwed cross seam, the joins are invisible

This is the texture tiled two by two. The waves run across the edge without a jump, and the cross seam with its screws repeats in the grid, the way the panels overlap on a real roof.

Why 0.684 m

The tile is exactly nine waves wide. At first it sat at just under a metre with 13 waves, but the design showed nine sheet bands, and at 13 the relief no longer matched what the eye picks out in the colour map. With nine waves the height follows the bands. Moving to the smaller size also meant recomputing the normal maps, otherwise the flanks of the waves would have come out too shallow.

What is in the package

Six maps per resolution: diffuse, normal in OpenGL convention, roughness, ambient occlusion, displacement as 16-bit PNG and the packed ARM. Each resolution is its own download at the same price, 20, 66 and 173 MB. The 8K is an upscale from the native 4K, and the product page says so. For DirectX engines such as Unreal, flip the green channel of the normal map. In the GIANTS Editor the maps you use get converted to DDS with the GIANTS Texture Tool, while Blender, Unity and Unreal read the JPG and PNG files directly.

Where the texture comes from

The colour map is AI-generated, and unlike our first three textures it had no reference image at all: it started from a written description, not a photo. The first draft reflected blue sky in the metal; we removed that tint, and the grey is now neutral. The waves come from a formula, as described above. That is why the product page carries the AI label under Art. 50 of the EU AI Act.

What it is for

Sheds, hall walls, canopies and anything in Farming Simulator 25 that needs a roof in a hurry. Next to Rusty Corrugated Metal 01 you now have the new sheet and the old one, same pitch, same depth. The Pendant Lamp Pack fits under the roof, the Outdoor Grill Station beside it, and where the sheet meets the ground, Cracked Concrete 01.

Coming next: brick and asphalt textures are in the works. Update from 25 September: the asphalt is here — Asphalt 01, road asphalt at 0.6 m per tile, even all over with no stains. Tell us in the forum which surface you are missing.
