Fritte on the textures and assets (voice message, 59 s):

Until today the shop only had 3D models: the eleven pieces from the Gold Trader, the bonsai and the PGA skill. From now on there is a second product line, and it is flat. Two PBR textures, both tileable in both directions.

Cracked Concrete 01: a weathered concrete wall with fine cracks and chipped paint. One tile covers 1 × 1 m. 8K pays off here, the cracks get visibly sharper. Both textures live in the categories concrete textures and wood textures.

Oak Planks 01: varnished oak floor planks, 1.2 × 1.2 m per tile, plank width and seams like real flooring. On the oak the difference between 4K and 8K is small. We ship 8K anyway, but if you want to save space, take 4K and you miss nothing.

What is in the package

Six maps per resolution: diffuse, normal (OpenGL), roughness, ambient occlusion, displacement as 16-bit PNG and a packed ARM map with AO, roughness and metallic in one image. The colour maps are JPG at quality 95, normal and displacement stay lossless as PNG. That is exactly what makes the zips big. Since 22 September each resolution is its own download at the same price: 25, 81 and 253 MB for the concrete, 24, 83 and 298 MB for the oak — almost all of it is the 8K level.

For the GIANTS Editor and every editor that reads PBR

The maps are named and packed so they work in the GIANTS Editor, in Blender, Unity and Unreal without rebuilding anything: one file per channel, clear names, colour space noted in the README. The normal map comes in OpenGL convention; for DirectX engines such as Unreal you flip the green channel, and the README says so too. The displacement comes with a real-world value: 8 mm for the concrete, 2 mm for the planks. Those are the values we used for the spheres in the viewer, so your result looks like ours.

Look before you download. On every texture page a sphere with real displacement turns in front of a blurred room. Next to it are three images: the texture flat and tiled 2 × 2, the maps side by side, and the clay sphere with only the relief.

Where the textures come from

An image model generated them as our own design after a CC0 photo reference from Poly Haven. We made them tileable by hand, derived the remaining maps from our diffuse, and 8K is an upscale from the native 4K. Every product page says the same.

On the side: Lounge Sofa 1.0.1.0

The scratches on the cushions that showed on the old tile were in the mesh, not in the texture. 747 faces are refilled, the textures are unchanged, both packages repacked. If you already have the Lounge Sofa, just download it again from your account.

And the 3D assets? They stay as they are: one GIANTS Editor package with i3d and DDS and one 3D package with the Blender file, FBX and glTF each, 2.47 to 6.47 € or included from Magister up. With the textures that makes thirteen products you can buy. More textures will follow if these two do well. Update from 23 September: the third one is here, Rusty Corrugated Metal 01 — rusted corrugated iron with real corrugation geometry. Update from 24 September: and the fourth, Cobblestone 01 from the new Stone category. Tell us in the forum which surfaces you are missing.
