Which tools does Dig With Anything recognise?

Dig With Anything has no machine list. It recognises tools by their shape.

Why no list

A list means every new excavator mod forces a new DWA version. And that is exactly where the scene forks a script — not out of malice, but because a gap is left. Closing the gap is the only defence that scales with you. Chasing does not scale.

How the detection works

The rule asks for steerable tools with rotation limits, a span of at least 30°, and a dependent tool with the same span. That rule was not guessed, it came out of a scan across all 346 installed mods.

There are two paths: one when scanning the store, one when the tool is attached in game.

What is not read from the XML

The direction — which end of the travel means "open". It is simply not in the files (on one known grapple, rotMin 0 means OPEN of all things). So DWA learns it on the first pickup in game instead of guessing.

Known gap, said plainly

Grapples that move their jaw through an animation instead of rotation limits are not recognised by the current build — they have no rotMin/rotMax for the rule to grip. That is known, proven on a specific model, and the way forward is settled: the game itself stores a reference to the jaw on such tools, and that is the route. Coming in 0.3.6.

Shipped configs are references, not a support list. They show what a tested config looks like — they are never the condition for something to work.
